Metal Stamping with Alyssa
Available to: Members & Non-Members
Date: August 25th
Location: SMS Clubhouse, 5467 Ballantine St. Unit #6, Sacramento, CA 95827
Time: 5:30pm - 8:30pm
First Time Students Cost:
Copper Pendant: Members: $35 per person | Non-members: $55 per person
Copper 1/4" Cuff: Members: $40 per person | Non-members: $60 per person
Copper 1/2" Cuff: Members: $45 per person | Non-members: $65 per person

Details: 8 spots available per class.
Students will create a stamped copper pendant or cuff. Materials are included.

Stamping Lab: 4 spots available per class.
Those that have taken the initial course will be allowed to "rent" out stamps during another class to have access to a wide variety of metal stamps and be able to continue to create stamped pieces at a reduced cost. The cost covers the wear and tear of the stamps and any potential breakage or harm to the stamps. You can opt to have the below copper provided at an additional cost to cover the copper blank costs and shipping or you can bring your own metal and fill it with stamp impressions to take home and saw out and use in your jewelry designs.

Copper Pendant: Members: $20 per person | Non-members: $30 per person (pendant provided)
Copper 1/4" Cuff: Members: $25 per person | Non-members: $35 per person (cuff provided)
Copper 1/2" Cuff: Members: $30 per person | Non-members: $40 per person (cuff provided)
Bringing your own metal: $15 per person | Non-members: $25 per person
(Note: stamps are not rated for use on stainless steel)


Class Information
This class will teach you the basics of metal stamping. You will come away with a finished pendant, charm or bracelet cuff that YOU made that will be suitable for jewelry, crafts, gift, etc.

Hammer, metal stamps, and copper blank.
   

Student's Results

Price includes materials that we will use such as practice metal for stamping, copper stamping blanks, and basic supplies for the duration of the class. It does NOT include any metal stamps!

   
Alyssa will be loaning her stamp collection (pictured above) for participants to be able to be used for this course.


You are more than welcome to purchase metal stamps of your own for this class if you like! Contact Alyssa at webadmin@sacramentomineralsociety.org if you'd like to know where to buy stamps prior to the class.

Metal stamping equipment will be available for loan for the duration of the class, and in some instances will need to be shared.

4x4 inch Bench Block
4x4 inch Rubber Block
3x3 inch Steel and Wood Bench Block (alternative to using rubber block under steel block)
Rawhide Mallet
1 lb. Ball Peen Hammer
Trusty Cook Dead Blow Hammer (HIGHLY recommended! I use the 43oz. Flat flat)
Liver of Sulfur Gel
Steel Wool #0000 Super Fine
Brass Brush
Sandpaper (available at any hardware store - 400, 600, 800 grits recommended)
Pro Polish Pads
24 ga. Copper Circle Stamping Blanks
18 ga. 6” x 1/2” Copper Cuff (1 cuff)
18 ga. 6” x 1/2” Copper Cuff (10 cuffs)

Note: ALL proceeds from this class are donated back to the Sacramento Mineral Society outside of paying for the materials and the instructor's fee. All class proceeds that come to the club will be put towards whatever our current fundraiser project is at the time.
