This class will teach you the basics of etching a small piece of copper. You will come away with a finished etched piece of jewelry or bookmark that YOU made that will be suitable for jewelry, crafts, a gift, etc.

We will be etching the copper using Ferric Chloride, which is a noncombustible corrosive acid that is highly corrosive to most metals and mildly corrosive to human tissue.

Note: The instructor will demonstrate how to place the pieces into the acid, but will be placing the student's pieces into the solution for them to make sure that they get placed properly for a good etching and will be suitable for the student to take home with them. This is a fairly mild acid - if it gets on the skin, you want to wash it off and it can stain the skin and fabrics, but is mild as acids go.

Price includes materials that we will use such as copper blanks, the acid for etching and the materials needed to clean and polish the finished piece.
